That One Song

Have you ever had that moment, where you're driving down the road, and out of nowhere you belt out a song that you haven't heard in almost a decade? I had that moment today.

I was driving home from work today, and from out of nowhere I started to sing Austin by Blake Shelton. I haven't heard that song since I was in High school. Then I started thinking about all of the songs I haven't heard in forever. So I looked up Billboards hot 100 from 1997-2001. All of my high school career.

Just to take those of you back old enough to remember. 1997 was the introduction of TRL on MTV. This was my education outside of school. I wanted to know what people were listening to.

In 1997 the top single wasCandle in the Wind by Elton John. After Princess Diana's death. And the top album was Spice by the Spice Girls. A banner year for the Brits.

In 1998 the top single was Too Close by Next. And the top album was the Titanic soundtrack.

In 1999 Cher made a comeback with Believe. And the Backstreet Boys released their sophomore album to a number 1 spot.

And in the turn of the new millennium Faith Hill broke out with the #1 single Breathe. And *NSYNC blasted off to the top with No Strings Attached.

I remember so many things about those 4 years. High school was about to end, getting ready for life away from parents.

Looking back now, remembering all of the emotions this music brought everyone. Each one of these songs and albums hold a special place in my heart.

So remember all the good music you listened to when you were younger. Go back and listen to that song you couldn't get out of your head, because the radio burned it into your brain.

Some Nights....

Have you ever had one of those nights, when you just can't seem to fall asleep? That has been happening to me more recently. I seem to lay awake and cannot stop thinking. I have had so many ideas pop into my head. Or even just general thoughts on the direction life is going.

This blog is going to be my release. Release from the clutter that fills my overflowing brain. Most of it will not make any sense at all. But I can guarantee that it will be entertaining.

I'm going to blog everyday for a year and see how the ups and downs develop an overfilled mind like mine.
